Place Type A Place Type is used to describe the nature, function, or role of a Place. It does not refer to a specific geographic entity, but rather to the kind of place that an entity represents. Place Types can range in scale from a precise spot, e.g village square, to a larger area, e.g kingdom.Passage A Passage is an excerpt or portion of a larger text, selected for reference or analysis. Passages are used to highlight specific information, statements, or events related to claims and assertions made by primary sources.Author Group Author Group designates the collective authorship of a work, whether a manuscript or a modern scholarly publication. It records multiple authors as a single entity, which may be cited as the authority for claims or assertions. The members of an Author Group are unordered; this means that the same Author Group is said to have produced a Text Expression or a Publication as long as all of its members participated, even if the authorship order on the text differs.Manifest Group This class comprises a defined set of persons who are able to act together as a single collective in intentional action and who are moreover gathered together physically to bring about this end. The substance of manifest groups is physical persons qua embodied actor.Correspondence A Correspondence is an event that constitutes the sending and receipt of a letter, usually between two individuals, and may also involve intermediaries such as letter-carriers. It captures the persons involved, the sending and receiving locations, and the topics communicated in the letter.Group Group is a collective body of individuals who were involved in the same activity or event (e.g. multiple editors of a publication or the envoys of a ruler). In this model, Group is a parent class of Author Group and Manifest Group.Geopolitical Events A Geopolitical Event is an occurrence or process that takes place within, across, or in relation to political or territorial boundaries, and that involves actors such as states, populations, or military units as well as individuals. It is distinguished by its political, diplomatic, or territorial significance.Boulloterion A boulloterion is a Byzantine stamping device for affixing and embossing lead or golden seals to documents. The vast majority of real boulloteria have been lost, and sigillography focuses on the content found on surviving seals. However, preserved seals frequently give incomplete evidence due to varying states of preservation or damage, usually due to corrosion. Therefore, a Boulloterion offers a reconstruction of the original design of seals that were stamped with it, notwithstanding the specific condition of individual seals. It also serves as a means of linking seals that are believed to have been created with the same boulloterion.Proposition Set Legal Status Legal Status describes the condition or status of a person or group articulated under a particular legal or normative system. In practice, social quality is a broadly defined category, including social labels that do not have well-defined connections with power structures (such as court titles) and, therefore, clear notion of legal position. An individual could simultanously have social quality and legal status (e. g. a bishop sent on mission as an envoy, or a dean working as a scribe on request). It can refer to any kind of real collection (e. g. diplomatic archive, private collection, museum department, group of lots at auction), since seals and bullae are conserved in different conditions (for example, still attached to the original document or as an archeological finding).Authority Status Authority Status describes the type or mode of control that an entity exercises over a Place or Person. Alongside denoting the specific authority (e.g the Byzantine Empire), Authority Status refers to the condition or category of authority (e.g Imperium) that defines the relationship between the power and the subordinate entity as well as the changing temporal and spatial limits of that authority.Object Type Manuscript Place A Place (e.g Constantinople) is a spatial entity that denotes a specific location or area in the physical or conceptual world.
